China Ikwerreman Acheru....

They call me China. That’s what I call myself too, that’s what my parents didn’t call me. That's what my parents now call me. I wrote for Sunray Newspapers in 1990, but my broadcast career began in 1992 when I used to be a regular on NTA Port Harcourt's Sports Panorama. By 1995 I had started making routine 3 minutes cameo appearances every Wednesday by 10 pm talking sports on Radio Rivers. My journey has taken me through broadcast, print and internet journalism with CTL Cable TV,, Cool/ Wazobia FM. I am presently Head of Sports Today 95.5 FM Port Harcourt and I own the most popular football blogsite in Nigeria. Across these various media platforms, all through the years, I have only done one thing in journalism: Sports. I have covered the African Nations Cup: traversed the greens in Takoradi, reported in the cold of Cape Town and Rabat as well as covered countless games in the CAF Champions league from the bald fields in Bujumbura to pristine pitches in Pretoria. Since 2003, I have been Media officer of Dolphins Football club of Port Harcourt. I have seen the highs: exposing over-aged players in the Nigerian U-21 squad; I have seen the lows, being issued death threats by football administrators. They call me controversial. That’s what I call myself too. I am China Ikwerreman Acheru....
