Ijaw Youth Council Denounces Threats from Rivers State Administrator

The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) has condemned the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, retired Vice Admiral Ibok Ete-Ibas, for his recent threats to target supporters of suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara. The immediate past chairman of the IYC Eastern Zone, Tamuno Kpokpo, expressed strong disapproval of Ete-Ibas’s comments, describing statements about “sweeping powers” as not only inflammatory but also provocative.

Kpokpo admonished the retired Vice Admiral to conduct himself with decorum and to reconsider his approach to political discourse, suggesting that such rhetoric is unhelpful and detrimental to the state’s political climate.

Despite the ongoing tensions, Kpokpo reaffirmed his unwavering support for Governor Fubara, stating that he is prepared to stand by the governor through challenges, emphasizing his commitment to the leadership of the suspended governor.

The IYC’s statement reflects heightened political tensions in Rivers State as various factions navigate the complexities of local governance and political loyalty.
