IGP confirms killing of south East/South notorious kidnap kingpin.

Force Public Relations Officer, JIMOH MOSHOOD who briefed newsmen at the Force Headquarters in Abuja today, also paraded five suspected members of the criminal gang who were arrested by the police.

 

 

MOSHOOD said the leader of the gang identified as HENRY CHIBUEZE, also known as VAMPIRE, was killed in gun battle with the police.

 

 

The arrested suspects are OBINNA ELAH from Orlu in Imo State; ARINZE ABECHETA from Okohia-Isiala Mbano also in Imo State; and CHUKWUEBUKA IKEAZOTA also from Ohohia-Isiala Mbano.

 

 

The others are SAMUEL UGOCHUKWU from Arochukwu in Abia State and CLIFFORD AHEANA from Omu Awa in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.

 

 

The Force spokesman said five AK 47 rifles and three hundred rounds of AK 47 ammunition were among items recovered from the hideout of the criminal gang during the operation at Omu Awa forest in Ikwerre, which lasted until the earlier hours of today.

 

 

He said the operation was carried out by the Police Special Forces working under the supervision of the Commissioner of Police in charge of Imo State Police Command.

 

 

You will recall that the slain leader of the gang, HENRY CHIBUEZE, was on the 27th of January rescued by his members in a shootout at the premises of the Imo State High Court in Owerri, after he was brought in by officials of the Nigeria Prisons Service together with over fifty suspects for trial.

 

 

Before his death; HENRY CHIBUEZE had been on the police wanted list since 2013; and upon his initial arrest, confessed to several high profile robbery attacks, kidnappings and murders.

 

 

The Force Spokesman said he had also confessed to the murder of his girlfriend and eight members of her family, including six children in Lagos State.
