After an exhaustive debate in a charged atmosphere; the House resolved to set up an ad hoc committee to investigate the raids on judges by the DSS.
The decision was reached based on a Matter of Urgent Public Importance moved by KINGSLEY CHINDA from Obio-Akpor Federal Constituency in Rivers State.
In the resolution; the lower chamber of the National Assembly said it was important for DSS to explain where it derived the power to raid the home of the judges.
The lawmakers argued that the power of the DSS under the National Security Agencies Act does not envisage the investigation and prosecution of corruption and abuse of office.
They were also concerned that neither the Attorney-General of the Federation nor the National Judicial Council was contacted before the raids were carried out by DSS.
