Group Condemns Police Harassment Over Tinted Glass, Demands Immediate Halt

The South-South Youth Initiative has called on the Inspector General of Police and the Rivers State Commissioner of Police to immediately stop the arrest and inhumane treatment of residents under the guise of enforcing tinted glass regulations.

The National President of the group, Saviour Oscar Imeabe, made the call while reacting to growing complaints from residents who alleged that they have been harassed and detained by security operatives simply because their vehicles have tinted windows.

Imeabe expressed deep concern that, despite a Federal High Court ruling suspending the enforcement of tinted glass regulations, police officers in Rivers State have continued to arrest and detain citizens in violation of the court’s directive.

He warned that if the harassment and unlawful detentions persist, the South-South Youth Initiative would have no option but to mobilize its members and take to the streets in protest.
