Governor WIKE, who is the Chairman of the PDP National Convention Planning Committee, gave this indication in a statement released by the Press Unit of the Rivers State Government House.
According to the statement; the order was granted by Justice IBRAHIM WATILA of the Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt.
It said the court also ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission to monitor the PDP convention in Port Harcourt, while the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Service are to provide security or the event.
The statement further disclosed that the orders were granted based on a suit filed by the Secretary of the PDP National Convention Planning Committee, Senator BEN OBI.
The Government House statement said Senator OBI filed the matter for himself and on behalf of other members of the PDP National convention Planning Committee.
The Inspector-General of Police, the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, the Department of State Services and the Independent National Electoral Commission were joined as respondents.
According to the statement; Justice WATILA purportedly declared that the July 4th judgment of the Federal High Court in Port Harcourt recognised the PDP National Convention on 21st May, which produced the National Caretaker Committee.
Justice WATILA was also quoted as saying that the court decision has not been appealed against or set aside, hence it behooves on the court to protect the judgment.
The judge was also reported to have said the court had not been informed of any injunction against holding of the August 17th National Convention in Port Harcourt.
Meanwhile; the matter has been adjourned to 16th August for hearing of the originating summons filed by Senator BEN OBI.
