Gambia’s Jammeh may not be stepping down as speculated.

That would be after the Supreme Court has given a ruling on his case seeking to nullify the result of the election on December 1st that gave victory to opposition leader, ADAMA BARROW.

The Supreme Court was due to begin consideration of the case on Tuesday this week, but that did not happen because most of the judges, who are drawn from other countries, including Nigeria, were not present.

His official tenure ends on 19th of January, and the President-Elect, ADAMA BARROW has threatened to declare himself President if JAMMEH failed to step down.

But in a nationwide TV broadcast yesterday, the longstanding ruler expressed concern at what he described as foreign interference.

He lashed out at the United Nations, the African Union and the Economic Community of West African State for what he described as hasty resolutions given the peaceful nature of the dispute so far.

Meanwhile; ECOWAS regional mediators, led by President MUHAMMADU BUHARI of Nigeria, are expected in The Gambia tomorrow to urge JAMMEH to accept defeat and step down.
