The retired AIG gained national attention in the heat of the bitter political rivalry between former governor of Rivers State, ROTIMI AMAECHI and then Minister of State for Education, NYESOM WIKE.
MBU was compulsorily retired alongside twenty-one Assistant Inspectors-General by the Police Service Commission after thirty-one years in service.
His retirement procedure was concluded over the weekend with a pull-out parade at the Police Staff College in Jos, Plateau State, which was his last assignment as Commandant.
Our correspondent gathered that a former Inspector General of Police, OBONNAYA ONOVO, was present at the ceremony, and he praised AIG JOSEPH MBU for his bravery while in service.
ONOVO also criticized the mass retrenchment of Deputy Inspectors-General and Acting Inspectors-General of the Nigeria Police Force.
