The expansion of the flagship world football tournament was announced by the governing body following a unanimous vote by the FIFA Council.
Details of the decision are yet to be made public but FIFA President; GIANNI INFANTINO had promised to see the expansion of the tournament when he took office.
With the decision; there would be more African teams to start in the group stage of the tournament than the current number of five.
