The defaulting institutions include the Central Bank of Nigeria, the Nigeria Communications Commission, Nigerian Shippers Council, Nigerian Export Promotion Council, National Health Insurance Scheme and the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority.
Others include the Nigeria Television Authority, Bureau for Public Enterprise, National Pensions Commission, Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading, Nigeria Export Processing Zones Authority and the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria.
The Minister of Finance, KEMI ADEOSUN, said the findings were made following an audit of thirty-three agencies.
In a presentation during a media briefing in Abuja, the Finance Minister said the affected agencies have been asked to come up with a plan to repay the monies.
She said a meeting has been scheduled for 6th December to enable the agencies submit a repayment plan or face appropriate sanctions.
The Minister also hinted about the prospect of inviting the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to look into the matter for possible prosecution.
