The Government’s plan is to engage children sheltered in the various camps for Internally Displaced Persons as advocates against terrorism, through writing and speaking competitions.
This was made known by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Internally Displaced Persons, Doctor MARIAM MASHA, as contained in a statement released by the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity in the Office of the Vice President, LAOLU AKANDE.
According to the statement obtained by our correspondent, Doctor MASHA said the education advocacy programme for displaced school-aged children in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe states will begin today.
She said the competition is open to all school-aged children, from eight to eighteen years, who are currently receiving various forms of education in the Internally Displaced Persons Camps and host communities.
The programme, tagged ‘2016 Protecting Education Advocacy Challenge, PEACH’, is being jointly hosted by the Office of the National Security Adviser, the National Emergency Management Agency and the Federal Inland Revenue Service.
