FG invites Japanese companies to set up Manufacturing plants.

The Minister of Finance, KEMI ADEOSUN, said it was not enough for big companies around the world to ship finished goods to Nigeria.

Addressing a Japanese Trade and Investment Mission to Nigeria, ADEOSUN said the country is open and ready to continue to do business with the rest of the world.

She said the Federal Government was vigorously working to improve the business environment by investing in transportation infrastructure as well as other initiatives to make doing business in Nigeria easier.

The Finance Minister also declared that Nigeria, which is Africa’s biggest economy, had emerged from recession and wants to grow again.

KEMI ADEOSUN noted that the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan of the Buhari Administration was designed to stabilize the economy and propel growth.

ADEOSUN expressed appreciation to the Japanese Government for supporting and executing projects through the Japan International Cooperation Agency.

A statement released by the Director of Information in the Federal Ministry of Finance, SALISU NA’INNA DAMBATTA, disclosed that the thirty-two-man Japanese delegation was led by the Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, SHUNSUKE TAKEI.

The Japanese official said that they were on a mission to Nigeria as part of the efforts by the Japanese Government to actualize a thirty billion US dollars investment pledge in August last year, during the sixth Tokyo International Conference on African Development, which held in Nairobi, Kenya.

SHUNSUKE TAKEI said based on the size of the Nigerian market and potential for growth, Japanese investors were eager to do business in Nigeria.

But TAKEI pointed out prevailing challenges in the areas of security, legal issues and power supply.
