It was gathered that trouble started when the Director-General of the NDE, Nasiru Ladan, could not defend the fifty-two billion naira budgeted for the recruitment of seven hundred and seventy-four thousand Nigerians under the NDE.
The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo, had accused unnamed politicians of harassing him over the public works programme meant to create seven hundred and seventy-four thousand unskilled jobs, vowing not to succumb to any form of blackmail, just as he pledged to drive the initiative to a successful conclusion.
