Federal and Edo State Governments Establish Committee to Investigate Killings of Travellers

In response to the tragic killings of 16 Kano-bound travelers in Uromi, the administrative headquarters of Esan North-East Local Government Area, the Federal Government, in collaboration with the Edo State Government, has formed a fact-finding committee. The announcement was made by Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, during a meeting with a high-powered delegation from Kano State, led by Deputy Governor Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo, on Thursday at the Government House in Benin City.

Governor Okpebholo emphasized that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is deeply concerned about the incident in Uromi, expressing his commitment to ensuring the safety and security of citizens across the state and the nation. The governor reiterated the importance of fostering an environment where people can live and conduct their business without fear.

The newly formed committee is expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragic event and provide recommendations aimed at preventing similar occurrences in the future. Both state and federal officials have urged the community to remain vigilant and cooperative during the investigation process.
