The warning was issued in a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta and Coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Brigadier-General PAUL BOROH.
The warning comes on the heels of preparations for the rescheduled rerun national and state legislative elections in Rivers State on 10th of December.
A statement issued by the Federal Amnesty Office disclosed that the move becomes necessary because of the need to curtail election violence that is threatening Nigeria’s democracy.
It maintained that the prevalence of election violence was seriously undermining the peace building efforts by the Federal Government in the Niger Delta region.
The Amnesty Office appealed to the general public to maintain peace and abide by the rules of the Electoral Act in order to achieve stability in Rivers State.
The Amnesty Office specifically advised the youth and ex-agitators not to allow themselves to be used as cannon fodders to perpetrate violence in the state.
