Ethiopia Elected into UN Security Council as Non-Permanent Member

Ethiopia will take over the position to be vacated by Angola at the end the year, on completion its tenure.

Egypt and Senegal also take two other seats reserved for Africa for a tenure that will run out in 2017.

Also elected to the Security Council on rotational non-permanent basis are Bolivia and Sweden.

There are ten non-permanent members of the UN Security Council, while the United States, United Kingdom, Russia, China and France remain the permanent members.
