An indigene of Alaoma Umuebele 3 community in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State has accused the Nigerian Air Force of attacking his local liquor production site, where he refines palm wine into a popular gin known as Kai Kai.
The business owner, Barine Friday, alleged that Air Force operatives opened fire on his facility without warning, destroying equipment and halting operations. He further claimed that the personnel used a helicopter to destroy economic trees surrounding the site.
Friday appealed to the Rivers State Government and civil society organisations to intervene and save his family business, which he said he inherited from his late father.
A worker at the site, Udim Smith Umoh, who said he witnessed the incident, told our reporter, Emelda Ifeme, in a phone interview that Air Force personnel shot at their production drums without any provocation, forcing workers to flee for safety.
As of the time of filing this report, the Nigerian Air Force has yet to respond to the allegations.
