A parent of one of the community in an interview with Todayfm’s Sandra Kenneth lamented the lack of electricity, computers and other instructional materials.
He stated that schools in the area have been left dilapidated, leaving them to their fate, noting that getting to a good school takes over one hour due to deplorable state of the roads in the communities.
On his part, the paramount ruler of Madu-Okpara community Eze Eugene Amadi called on state government to focus on educational sector in rural communities as he said it will help create a better knowledgeable generation.
He also expressed worries that the community secondary schools in Odagwa does not have chairs, adding that teachers and corp members rarely come to teach due to the high rate of insecurity.
Todayfm reports that community secondary school Umuaturu, st joseph’s Secondary School, CSS Amaji, CSS Obioha, CSS Egbu, CSS Obite, CSS AFARA, amongst others in Etche local government area of Rivers State are dilapidated and in dire need of urgent attention.
