The United States Government has appealed against a court ruling that barred President DONALD TRUMP from blocking twitter users from his account.

The Justice Department said it wants to challenge the court ruling that President TRUMP may not legally block Twitter users from his account based on their political views.

The move is in response to a lawsuit filed on behalf of seven plaintiffs who sued President TRUMP for blocking them from his @realDonaldTrump account.

U.S. District Judge NAOMI REICE BUCHWALD in Manhattan ruled on 23rd May that comments on the President’s account, and those of other government officials, were public forums.

The Judge further declared that blocking Twitter users from such accounts for their views violated their right to free speech under the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

The lawyer for the plaintiffs, JAMEEL JAFFER said he was pleased that the White House unblocked his clients from the President’s Twitter account.

However; JAFFER expressed disappointment that the government intends to appeal the district court’s ruling, which he considered as thoughtful and well-supported.

 Ethiopia’s Parliament has approved the government’s decision to lift a six-month state of emergency.

The move comes two months earlier than planned, after the government imposed emergency rule in February to clamp down on unrest.

Trouble started in response to a planned development scheme for the capital Addis Ababa, which some fear could lead to land seizures in the nearby Oromiya region.

The matter led to the resignation of former Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn and the emergence of Abiy Ahmed in his place.

The new Prime Minister, who is a former army officer, has travelled around Ethiopia with a promise to address grievances and strengthen a range of political and civil rights.

After a meeting last Saturday to assess the security situation, Ethiopia’s cabinet resolved that law and order has been restored, thereby setting the stage for the vote in parliament to lift the emergency order.

The Nigerian Army has announced the rescue of one hundred and forty-eight people who were held hostage by Boko Haram insurgents in Bama Local Government Area of Borno State.

The breakthrough was made by troops of the Twenty-One Brigade with the support of members of the Civilian Joint Task Force.

The spokesman for Operation Lafiya Dole, Colonel Onyema Nwachukwu said the civilians were found at the remote villages of Modu Kimeri and Gulumba Gana during clearance operations by troops last Sunday.

Colonel Nwachukwu, who is a Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, disclosed in a statement that the rescued hostages comprised of fifteen men, fifty-eight women and seventy-five children.

He said it was also discovered that the Boko Haram terrorists had used the women in the group as sex slaves, with two of them pregnant at the time of the rescue.

The recent report by Amnesty International that indicted the Nigerian Military for sexual abuse of women affected by the Boko Haram insurgency in the North-East continues to generate reactions.

The latest assessment of the Amnesty International report is coming from the National Human Rights Commission, which decides to take the side of the Nigerian Military in denouncing the claims by the rights campaign group.

The report detailed allegations of rape of thousands of women and girls who escaped from Boko Haram insurgents by Nigerian soldiers.

But the Executive Secretary of the National Human Right Commission, Tony Ojukwu, described the allegations against the Nigerian Military as vague and lacking in credibility.

OJUKWU also said it was not true that soldiers fighting Boko Haram insurgents had killed many people who refused to be moved from territories rescued from the insurgents.

The NHRC Boss reportedly stated the position of the commission while responding to questions during a two-day workshop in Adamawa State, which was designed to improve on the capacity of the Military and Paramilitary personnel on the protection of civilians in counter insurgency operations.

He challenged Amnesty International to always verify its claims before issuing reports that indict the Nigerian Military, which he said was capable of causing havoc and apprehension among people.

The Sixty-First Meeting of the United Nations World Tourism Organization Commission for Africa has opened in Abuja.

The three-day meeting is being attended by over five hundred delegates, including twenty-six African Ministers of Tourism, the Secretary-General of the UN tourism agency.

President Muhammadu Buhari welcomed guests to the meeting with a charge to consider Nigeria as their second home.

President Buhari’s message was delivered by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, who declared that the Administration was offering attractive incentives for investors in the tourism sector.

Mustapha said the incentives include minimum tariff on imported tourism equipment, amusement park equipment and materials for hotel construction and furnishing.

Others are dedicated transportation for tour operators and equipment for restaurants not manufactured in Nigeria, as well as work permit for foreign workers with specialized skills within the industry and land at concessionary rate by state governments to tourism investors.

For his part; the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said hosting the tourism event in Nigeria was a testimony to the achievements of the Buhari Administration, especially in the area of security.

Boxing Promoter Eddie Hearn has remained confident that Anthony Joshua's unification clash with Deontay Wilder will be agreed, and a decision could be made in the "next few days".

The Scot, who has not played competitively since Wimbledon last year, had a hip operation in January.

"He's doing the rehabilitation. He's been back on the court in the last couple of days,"

Sunday Faleye is most grateful for all the support he received after he underwent successful surgery on his elbow which he injured at the recent CHAN in Morocco according to scorenigeria.

The 19 year old midfielder injured his elbow in 2018 CHAN group game against Angola in January and has not played ever since.

Faleye was operated on in Altach on Wednesday.

According to his agent Josep Lenhart, the surgery was passed successful and possibly Faleye will be back playing again in the next 3-4 months after undergoing his rehabilitation.

Goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa would adorn the number one jersey, while Spanish based Francis Uzoho has 23 leaving Daniel Akpeyi with 16 jersey as skipper Mikel Obi retains his number 10.
