Ed Sheeran states he will quit music if he loses copyright trial
Grammy-award-winning British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran says he will quit making music if found guilty of ripping off Marvin Gaye’s soul classic ‘Let’s Get it On’.
The ‘Shape of You’ crooner is standing copyright infringement trial at Manhattan Federal Court, United States.
Heirs of Gaye’s co-writer, Ed Townsend, accused Ed Sheeran of lifting a four-chord progression from the 1973 soul classic in his hit song ‘Thinking Out Loud’ and are seeking a whopping one hundred million naira in restitution.
However, Sheeran vehemently denied the claims, saying it’s insulting, adding that he would quit music if he is found guilty.
