You will recall that the suspected murderer of an eight-year-old girl around Eliozu in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area escaped from the custody of the State Criminal Investigation Department in Port Harcourt.
The group of women drawn from different organizations, including the Federation of Women Lawyers, FIDA, has given the police seven days to produce IFEANYI DIKE for trial.
FIDA Chairperson, ANTHONIA OSADEME who read a statement adopted by the group to newsmen, said they were also demanding the leadership of the Nigeria Police Force to expose other police officers involved in the escape of the murder suspect.
ANTHONIA OSADEME and her group equally condemned what they called awkward attitude of some police officers who often abandon their duties to pursue selfish gains.
They called on the Commissioner of Police, ZAKI AHMED to create a specialized children protection unit in all Divisional Police Stations across Rivers State.
Our correspondent VICTOR EZEAMA reports that the mother of the murdered eight-year-old girl, LUCY MEZU, who also present at the media briefing where she appealed for public support to bring the suspected killer to justice.
A thirteen-year-old identified simply as QUEENETH who was also present to push for justice for the murdered child also called for improve protection for the girl-child in society.
