EFCC Secures Conviction of Hannah Okunlola Adesokan Over N8.5 Billion Fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Lagos Zonal Directorate, has secured the conviction of Hannah Okunlola Adesokan before Justice Daniel Osiagor of the Federal High Court, Ikoyi, Lagos, over her involvement in an N8.5 billion fraud.

Adesokan was arraigned on May 23, 2025, alongside six co-defendants, including Samuel Ihechukwu, Fabian Chizaram, and Kingsley Kelechi Ejim—all employees of a first-generation bank—on an eight-count charge bordering on conspiracy and obtaining money by false pretence.

While she initially pleaded not guilty to the charges, Adesokan later changed her plea to guilty.

Justice Osiagor, upon her plea change, convicted and sentenced her to six months’ imprisonment with an option of ₦250,000 fine.

The case forms part of the EFCC’s ongoing crackdown on financial crimes and internal banking fraud, which have continued to impact investor confidence and the integrity of Nigeria’s financial system.

The trial of the remaining defendants continues before the same court.
