In a statement by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works, the state government called on property owners to cooperate with the team from the ministry to ensure that the contractor delivers the projects on schedule.
Meanwhile; the Rivers State Ministry of Works has dedicated a desk at the Permanent Secretary’s office for property owners affected by the construction of flyovers eleven and twelve at Rumuokwuta/Rumuola Junction, and Mgbuoba (Location Junction), as well as Azikiwe-Iloabuchi Road.
The ministry said the creation of the desk is to eliminate any suspicion of being shortchanged by valuers.
The ministry also clarified that there is no uniform compensation, saying the amount entitled to a property owner is strictly based on the value of their property.
In a statement by the state Commissioner for Works, Dax George-Kelly, the desk will be opened to the property owners from 10:00AM on Tuesday, 23 August 2022.
The government also appealed to the affected property owners to resist the temptation of being used by destructive elements to cause chaos and civil disobedience that may hinder the specified time frame for the projects.
