Former sports administrator Danladi Bako has called on the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, board led by Ibrahim Gusau to resign over what he described as the country’s poor football performances.
Bako criticised the federation following Nigeria’s failure to qualify for the 2022 and 2026 FIFA World Cups, as well as the recent struggles of the Super Eagles and Super Falcons. He argued that the failures point to leadership and administrative weaknesses rather than bad luck.
He also called for reforms to the NFF statutes and electoral process, advocating greater participation by Premier League clubs and stronger leadership capable of improving the development and administration of Nigerian football.
