Peterside, who spoke against the terrible flooding experienced in several parts of Rivers state, said flood in the state had been predicted by the Nigeria Metrological Agency.
He accused Governor NyesomWike of abandoning the master plan for Port Harcourt city, put in place by the RotimiAmaechi administration due to political reasons
He however blamed the Governor Wike-led administration for not paying attention to early warning signals from NIMET but rather chose to put the blame on Rivers people who are already suffering from lack of jobs and economic empowerment.
The former director-general of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA and governorship candidate of the APC in 2015, in a statement released by his media office, called on the government to immediately mobilize resources of the state to aid the sufferings of the people.
Also in an interview with Today FM’s Uchendu Ejiowhor, a Youth Activist, Charles Jaja blamed residents who dispose refuse indiscriminately in drainages and government who allegedly pay lip service to environmental warning to the situation that have ravaged the state.
