Cult members who repent and submit their arms to security agencies will be forgiven-IGP

IGP ABUBAKAR-ADAMU who spoke when a cult group in Ikwerre and Emohua Local Government came out to embrace peace and submit their arms and ammunition, assured that individuals who genuinely repent and submit their arms to security agencies will be forgiven their past criminal actions.

The IGP who was represented by the Commander of the Anti-Cultism Elele Unit of Rivers State Police Command, DSP YUSUF IDI, further commended the group, urged them not to go back to their past lives, and advised them not to depend on the government for white collar jobs but to engage themselves in various menial jobs and small scale businesses to cater for themselves.

The President General of Ikwerre-Etche Youth Forum, GIDEON ISAAC-OKPAKA who is the facilitator of the programme, thanked the repentant cultists for their peace move and those who contributed towards making the programme a success, just as he urged security personnel to no longer see the repentant cultists as criminals but as peaceful and well meaning members of the society.

PROMISE IMO who led the repentant cultists said the benefits of peace can not be over-emphasized, just as he advised the government and security agencies to visit communities being used as hideouts and fetch the menacing criminals.

Correspondent UCHENDU EJIOWHOR reports that some of the arms and ammunition submitted by the repentant cultists included pump action guns AK47s and cartridges which were all displayed at the the venue of the peace and development programme held in Elele Alimini community in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers state.
