Criticism is trailing the Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project (HYPREP) following the sudden collapse of its water project in Gwaara Community, Khana Local Government Area, just days after it was inaugurated by the Minister of Environment.
The Coordinator of the Community Advancement Initiative, Edoo Friday-Nekabari, blamed the incident on what he described as the failure of the Federal Ministry of Environment to ensure proper supervision of HYPREP projects across Ogoniland.
In an interview with our correspondent, Friday-Nekabari emphasized the need for accountability and transparency in the execution of government projects in the area.
He also called on the Federal Government to urgently investigate the circumstances surrounding the collapse of the water project, describing it as a major setback for the Ogoni cleanup effort.
