The court also ordered that the circumstances under which the funds were recovered, as well as the exact amount recovered from each public official should be made public.
Justice HADIZA RABIU SHAGARI delivered the judgment based on a Freedom of Information lawsuit filed by the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, SERAP.
The suit followed disclosure last year by the Federal Government of funds recovered from some high-ranking public officials and private individuals.
Justice SHAGARI agreed with SERAP that the Federal Government has legally binding obligations to tell Nigerians the names of all suspected looters of public treasury, past and present.
The Deputy Director of SERAP, TIMOTHY ADEWALE, described the judgment as a victory for justice, rule of law, transparency and accountability in the country
