Cases of Corona Virus surpass Sars epidemic as nearly 10,000 cases have been reported

There were around eight thousand one hundred cases of Sars – severe acute respiratory syndrome – reported during the eight-month outbreak.

But nearly ten thousand cases of the new virus have been confirmed, most in China, since it emerged in December.

More than one hundred cases have been reported outside China, in 22 countries.

The number of deaths so far stands at two hundred and thirteen all in China.

In total, seven hundred and seventy four people were killed by Sars.
