Bandits release one student of Greenfield University

Although the police and government authorities are yet to confirm the development, the mother of the student, Laurita Attahiru confirmed the release of her son to newsmen.

She however refused to give details of how her son was released and whether a ransom was paid or not.

Some of the parents however told newsmen that the student was released on Saturday after his mother, who is the wife of a Retired Army officer negotiated and paid ransom to the bandits privately.

The parents had earlier informed that the bandits have been negotiating with them individually, asking each of them to pay as high as twenty million, before they eventually demanded a bulk of one hundred million naira and ten motorcycles on Monday, May 3.

Meanwhile; parents of the abducted students of the College of Forestry Mechanization Afaka in Kaduna State, yesterday occupied the National Assembly complex, Abuja, in protest.

The protesters which include members of the Students Union Government of the institution were lamenting over what they described as the negligence of the state and Federal Government in securing the release of the children.

The Publisher of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore and Deji Adeyanju also joined the protesters.

The main entrance of the National Assembly was however manned by security agents who denied the protesters entrance.

The parents appealed to the government and Nigerians to come to their aid so that their children will be rescued alive from the hands of their abductors.
