BAN reportedly said it was high time for a female head of the UN, after more than seventy years of the formation of the body, with eight male leaders so far.
Meanwhile; out of eleven candidates in the running to take up the post UN scribe, five are women.
The candidates are from Latin America, Western Europe and Australasia, as well as Eastern Europe.
It may interest you to note that Eastern Europe and Russia have never had a representative hold the post.
However; the successful candidate must be recommended by the fifteen countries that make up the UN Security Council.
The incoming UN scribe will also be subjected to election by the one hundred and ninety-three countries in the General Assembly.
