Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta Raises Concerns Ahead of Key Clash with Liverpool

Following a narrow 1-0 victory over Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League on Tuesday, Arteta confirmed that the team’s recent signing, Riccardo Calafiori, sustained a knee injury during the match. The injury forced Calafiori from the field, leading to the substitution by Myles Lewis-Skelly.

“[Bukayo] Saka is not training yet, so he won’t be available, and Ricci [Calafiori] felt something and could not stay on. Bit of a worry,” Arteta remarked, indicating the growing injury worries for the squad.

In addition to missing Saliba and Calafiori, Arsenal will also be without captain Martin Ødegaard and defender Jurrien Timber, both of whom are still working to regain full fitness ahead of the challenging fixture against Liverpool.

Despite these setbacks, Arsenal has performed well in the Champions League, accumulating seven points from their first three matches. However, as they prepare to face Liverpool, Arteta will need to strategize effectively to manage the absences and contend against a formidable opponent.
