The Headquarters of Eighty-One Division of the Nigerian Army also confirmed that a Board of Inquiry has been constituted to investigate the circumstances that led to the incident.
It said the Commander of Nine Brigade, Brigadier General ELIAS ATTU, also charged the inquiry board to determine the level of involvement of the soldiers from 174 Battalion and recommend appropriate disciplinary action.
A statement released by the Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Colonel O. M DAUDU, further disclosed that the woman who was assaulted by the soldiers has been taken to hospital and is responding to treatment.
According to the statement; the Headquarters of the Eighty-One Division expressed regret over the incident, adding that it was against the Division’s commitment to zero tolerance for inhuman treatment.
