Activist Faults Rivers Assembly Speaker for Blaming Gov. Fubara Over Dilapidated School Infrastructure

Rights activist Charles Jaja has criticised the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Martin Amaewhule, for attributing the poor state of public school infrastructure to Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

Speaking to our correspondent, Jaja argued that the education sector had already deteriorated under the immediate past administration of former governor Nyesom Wike, insisting that the current situation cannot be pinned solely on Governor Fubara.

He said the House of Assembly should focus on collaborating with the governor to improve the quality of education and rehabilitate infrastructure across the state rather than engaging in blame games.

Meanwhile, the Rivers Peace Initiative has clarified that the Speaker’s recent scrutiny of the education sector does not indicate a breakdown of the peace deal between the legislative and executive arms.

Convener of the group, Obinna Ebogidi, backed the Assembly’s call for a state of emergency in the education sector but urged both the Executive and Legislature to exercise caution in their public statements to avoid heightening tensions.
