A motion has been tabled before the Nigerian Senate, seeking inclusion of the Eastern and North-East rail lines

The sponsor of the motion, Senator VICTOR UMEH, of the APGA from Anambra State, wants the projects to reflect in the 2018 Appropriation Bill, for which six point eight billion dollars loan has been approved.

The motion was endorsed by other Senators, including the Majority Leader, Senator AHMED LAWAN, who stressed the need for equitable spread of the rails standardization projects.

On his part; the Deputy Senate President, IKE EKWEREMADU, said the motion is about fairness, equity and justice.

Senator EKWEREMADU maintained that the Eastern rail line should be viewed as a capital project that will benefit all Nigerians.

Also lending his support for the motion, Senator CHUKWUKA UTAZI underscored that South Easterners are known for engaging in business and that the rail lines, including the proposed track from the South East to Lagos, would make it much easier for purchasing goods and services.
