The disruption of healthcare service delivery in Federal Health Institutions in Nigeria looks set to extend to state-owned institutions.
This is because the Rivers branch of the Joint Health Sector Union of Nigeria has resolved to join the strike by Thursday if the Federal Government fails to meet their demands of the national body.
State Chairman of JOHESU, Doctor CHRIS MBATA announced the resolution after an emergency meeting of all affiliate groups, which held in Port Harcourt.
MBATA, who also doubles as the Vice Chairman of the Rivers State Council of the Trade Union Congress, said the move followed a directive from the national leadership of the union.
The JOHESU Chairman told our correspondent CHINEDU IWUNNA that the strike would halt heath care services in all public health centres and hospitals in the state.
Doctor CHRIS MBATA is the Chairman of the Joint Health Sector Union of Nigeria in Rivers State.
