Investigations by our correspondent CHINEDU IWUNNA reveals that the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress are planning a joint workers day celebration while the newly formed United Labour Congress is planning a separate event.
However; State Chairman of ULC, CHARLES ELETO said his wish is for a joint Workers’ Day celebration with other labour centers, but disclosed that he has not been able to communication with other groups.
Speaking on the same matter; the Vice of Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, CHUKWU EMECHETA, appeared unwilling to confer legitimacy on the United Labour Congress.
EMECHETA disclosed that the NLC prefers to collaborate with the already well known known Trade Union Congress.
Meanwhile; the State Chairman of the NLC, BEATRICE ITUBO said the May Day celebration would be used to highlight several issue affecting workers in Rivers State.
