NNPC Group Managing Director, MAIKANTI BARU, gave this indication while providing explanation about the introduction of modular refineries in the Niger Delta.
BARU was speaking at the 53rd International Conference and Exhibition of the Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society in Abuja.
The NNPC Boss said the business model being considered by the Federal Government provided that those already involved in artisanal refining are organised into consortia.
He noted that part of the objectives of the proposed licensing of modular refineries is to create jobs is to get Niger Delta and get the youths off criminal activities.
On the overall; the NNPC Group Managing Director said government intends to transform the oil and gas company into an integrated energy outfit with interest in power generation and transmission.
The presentation was made in a paper entitled, Challenges and Prospects for Diversification of the Upstream, Downstream and Frontier Basin Exploration in the Oil and Gas Sector.
