South Africa: Sack of Finance Minister wrecks Zuma’s govt.

Even the Deputy President CYRIL RAMAPHOSA has criticized the action against PRAVIN GORDHAN, which he described as totally unacceptable.

However; RAMAPHOSA said he would not resign in response to the sacking but continue to serve the people.

The Chief Whip of the governing ANC party, JACKSON MTHEMBU, has also disagreed publicly with President ZUMA over the decision.

MTHEMBU said the two sacked ministers had integrity, were incorruptible and had unquestioned commitment to the national democratic revolution.

Similarly; the Anglican Archbishop of Cape Town, THABO MAKGOBA, has said President Zuma’s cabinet sackings constitute an assault on the poor of South Africa.

In the meantime; GORDHAN has said the intelligence report used to fire him and his deputy MCEBISI JONAS is absolute nonsense.

But he said he was not fighting over being sacked, but fighting for his integrity and honour.

On his part; MCEBISI JONAS challenged all South Africans to wake up and smell the coffee, adding that the country was at a crossroads.

Meanwhile; protesters have gathered outside the South African Parliament in reaction to the cabinet changes by the President.
