The All Progressives Congress has faulted the recent outburst by a group of sixteen federal lawmakers from Rivers State.
The mainly PDP National Assembly members from Rivers State had petitioned President MUHAMMADU BUHARI to complain about alleged connivance between the APC and security agencies to subvert the course of justice at the election tribunals sitting in Abuja.
However; the APC said those who are blatantly obstructing the course of justice are the same ones now trying to play the victim.
In a statement released by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji LAI MOHAMMED, the APC described the petition by the group as deceitful, obstructionist and provocative.
The APC noted that despite an order from the Tribunal, the Rivers PDP and the Independent National Electoral Commission have colluded to ensure that the Rivers APC neither gets the certified true copies of requested documents nor inspect the electoral materials used for the governorship election.
The party said based on its commitment to abide by the law, it reported the development to the Tribunal, which in turn said it was not in the position to enforce the order, based on which the matter was reported to the EFCC.
Furthermore; the APC denied that the military was being used to intimidate anyone, adding that the party only subpoenaed soldiers who played a major role in the elections.
