President MUHAMMADU BUHARI says the ongoing national identity registration scheme will be used to complement the Permanent Voter Card registration by the Independent National Electoral Commission. President BUHARI advised Nigerians to register with the National Identity Management Commission so that their votes would count in future elections. The President was speaking to State House correspondents shortly after he completed his registration for the National Identification Card scheme at the lobby of the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
In his remarks; the Director-General of NIM-C, CHRIS ONYEMENAM, said the biometric data of seven million Nigerians have been captured under the scheme. ONYEMENAM explained that the registration was a continuous exercise, adding that all enrollment centres would remain open like bank branches.
