Reacting to a headline in an online media report; the Force Public Relations Officer, JIMOH MOSHOOD, said at no time did the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja order the Inspector General of Police to stop the investigation.
With reference to the lawsuit between the Governor of Rivers State and the Inspector General of Police, the Force spokesman said what transpired in court on 30th January, was that counsel to the Inspector General of Police raised a Preliminary Objection to the jurisdiction of the court to entertain the motion.
He said the Counsel to the Governor of Rivers State also informed the Court that they needed time to respond to both the counter affidavit and the Preliminary Objection.
JIMOH MOSHOOD noted that the court observed that the Nigeria Police Force had the option to either continue with their investigation or not, pending the determination of the suit.
He said following the development; the case was then adjourned to 10th February 2017.
