United Nations Secretary General, BAN KI-MOON has performed a wreath-laying ceremony at the UN Compound in Abuja in honour of victims of the 2011 terrorist attack. You will recall that the attack on the UN compound in Abuja was carried out with a car bomb that slammed the gates of the premises within the diplomatic zone in the Federal Capital Territory. At least twenty-one people were killed and over seventy others injured in the massive blast. In the meantime; the United Nations has noted that Nigeria is currently passing through a crucial moment and needs support to move forward. UN Secretary General, BAN KI-MOON made the observation during an audience with the Nigeria Governors Forum in Abuja in continuation of his two-day visit to Nigeria.
BAN said he was happy to know that Nigeria is able to face the prevailing challenges, and pledged the support of the UN to achieve the desired leadership for the country.
