The Nigeria Governors’ Forum has scheduled a meeting with the United Nations Secretary General, BAN KI-MOON for this Sunday to discuss a successor programme to the Millennium Development Goals.
The Chairman of the forum, Governor ABDUL’AZIZ YARI of Zamfara State noted that the meeting is as a result of the expiration of the Development Goals by the end of this year. Governor ABDUL’AZIZ YARI made this known when he read the communiqué adopted at the end of a meeting by the state governors in Abuja.
He said the meeting would also discuss sustainable development goals and the role of state governments on the implementation. The Governor’s forum also appealed for a more comprehensive power sector policy and strategy with a view to achieving a holistic solution to the power supply problem in Nigeria.
