The Director of Information of the Nigerian Navy, Commodore CHRISTIAN EZEKOBE said the operation was carried out a patrol team deployed by NNS DELTA.
Commodore CHRISTIAN EZEKOBE said the operation is in line with ongoing efforts to clampdown on crude oil theft and illegal crude oil operations in the Niger Delta.
EZEKOBE said the Nigerian Navy has also observed that illegal refining of Dual Purpose Kerosene is thriving in the Niger Delta, which marks a shift from the popular Automotive Gas Oil.
He said the latest development affirms the desperation by criminal elements involved in illegal oil activities to devise other means of perpetuating economic sabotage against the Nigerian government.
The Naval spokesman therefore warned the general public, particularly local consumers of kerosene, about the danger of patronizing adulterated DPK.
The Nigerian Navy warned the illegally refined kerosene is not good for domestic use; hence dealers should not patronize operators of illegal refineries for their supplies.
