Argentina FA President Hails Players Despite World Cup Final Defeat

President of the Argentine Football Association (AFA), Claudio Tapia, has praised the national team for their performance at the 2026 FIFA World Cup despite their 1-0 defeat to Spain in the final.

Tapia said he was proud of the players for their commitment, resilience and determination throughout the tournament, describing the squad as a source of pride for Argentina.

He commended the team’s fighting spirit and thanked the players and coaching crew for reaching the World Cup final after a demanding campaign.

Argentina’s hopes of retaining the title ended after Ferran Torres scored the winning goal for Spain in extra time, handing the Europeans their second FIFA World Cup title.
