The NUT has within the directed its members not to resume work on the 12th of September if the State Government fails to meet up with its demands.
However the Permanent Secretary in the state Ministry of Education Doctor OGBONNAYA has invited the leadership of the NUT for a meeting on Monday to address its demands.
The Permanent Secretary who was speaking on a Radio Programme monitored in Port Harcourt noted that the delay in the payment of the salaries of some teachers who had undergone the biometric verification exercise was due the need for the state government to fish out the bad eggs in the sector.
OGBONNAYA called for patience from the NUT and assured that as soon as the state government addresses the loopholes in the wage bill of the state.
In the meantime, the Chairman of the NUT, LUCKY NKPOGENE is wondering why according him it is only the teachers that are suffering from the outcome of the verification exercise.
NKPONGENE however assured that if the union sees sincerity on the part of the government in the course of the dialogue, it will shelve its planned action.
