Rivers PDP Rejects Rainbow Coalition, Vows to Remain Dominant Ahead of 2027 Elections

The Rivers State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has dismissed discussions around the so-called Rainbow Coalition proposed under the “Renewed Hope Agenda” by the FCT Minister.

In a statement jointly signed by the state PDP Caretaker Committee Chairman, Ogbam Ojima, and Secretary, Baribeful Nkor, the party reaffirmed that Rivers State has been a PDP stronghold since 1999 and asserted that it will not change its political color under any agenda in the run-up to the 2027 elections.

The statement also revealed plans for structural repositioning across the state ahead of the 2027 electoral cycle, with a focus on working from all twenty-three local government areas to strengthen party structures and grassroots engagement.

The PDP urged its members to remain calm and steadfast in the face of provocations, describing such actions as the work of anti-democratic forces currently seeking to destabilize the state.

The party’s position signals its determination to maintain political dominance in Rivers State while preparing strategically for future elections.
