Town Planning Consultants Urge Rivers Government to Engage Local Experts for Proper City Planning

The Association of Town Planning Consultants of Nigeria (ATPCN) has called on the Rivers State Government to increase the engagement of local consultants to enhance urban planning in Port Harcourt.

Hakeem Badejo, President of the association, made the appeal following visits to the Permanent Secretary of the Rivers State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, Soibitein Harry, and the Acting Administrator of the Greater Port Harcourt City Development Authority (GPHCDA), Benneth Chu. Badejo’s visit was aimed at informing them about the upcoming inauguration of the Rivers State branch of the association.

Speaking during the visit, Benneth Chu emphasized the need for legislation to ensure that building constructions meet proper standards, highlighting the importance of regulatory compliance in urban development.

Our correspondent reports that the Rivers State branch of the ATPCN will be formally inaugurated today in Port Harcourt, marking a key step in promoting professional town planning within the state.
