This was made known by the Commissioner of Police, FRANCIS ODESANYA during his familiarization visit to the State Secretariat of INEC, along Aba road in Port Harcourt.
?C.P ODESANYA, who assumed office at the Rivers State Police Command last week, said the police were ready to ensure that all INEC offices are adequately protected before a new date would be fixed for the conclusion of the re-run elections.
ODESANYA also confirmed that some persons have been arrested in connection with the recent arson attack on INEC office in Bori, which led to the postponement of the elections from last Saturday.
The Commissioner of Police affirmed that Rivers State was infested with criminals who are armed with sophisticated weapons; adding that a mop-up operation was ongoing to flush out illegal arms in the state.
